Wema Bank's Hackaholics Accelerator 2026: Empowering Nigerian Startups to Scale! (2026)

Wema Bank's Hackaholics Accelerator Programme 2026: A Catalyst for Nigeria's Tech and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem

Wema Bank has launched the 2026 edition of its Hackaholics Accelerator Programme, marking a significant shift in approach. Gone are the days of a mere competition; this initiative is now a comprehensive business development programme designed to propel startups from early traction to sustainable growth. The selected startups for this cohort are Farmslate, Ploy, Stocmed, Feest (Chao), Varsityscape, MamaAlert, Sane, Cyclex, Kieva, and Loocomo, all chosen from the top-performing finalists of the Hackaholics 6.0 challenge.

The programme's primary goal is to provide founders with the necessary structure, mentorship, and operational support to refine their business models, strengthen their foundations, and scale their impact. This is a crucial step in bridging the gap between early-stage traction and scalable success, ensuring that these startups can truly thrive in the Nigerian market.

According to Moruf Oseni, Managing Director and CEO of Wema Bank, Hackaholics has evolved beyond a mere competition. "Over the past six years, Hackaholics has grown into more than a competition; it has become a platform that reveals the depth of innovation and entrepreneurial potential that exists across Nigeria," he said. This transformation reflects the bank's commitment to supporting founders beyond the ideation stage, into the crucial business-building process.

The selected startups already have strong foundations, with products in the market, early traction, and clear growth potential, as noted by Babatunde Mumuni, Chief Transformation Officer of Wema Bank. The accelerator will further enhance their market traction, refine their models, and prepare them for long-term scale through mentorship, guidance, and access to the right networks. Since its launch in 2019, Hackaholics has attracted over 15,000 applicants and supported the development of hundreds of digital solutions across Nigeria, disbursing over $400,000 in funding to young innovators.

Wema Bank's Hackaholics Accelerator Programme is supported by its broader innovation infrastructure, including IDEAx Labs, which provides partnerships, infrastructure, and access to capital for emerging startups. This comprehensive approach ensures that the programme is not just about funding but also about providing the necessary resources and connections for long-term success.

In conclusion, Wema Bank's Hackaholics Accelerator Programme 2026 is a significant step forward in nurturing Nigeria's tech and entrepreneurship ecosystem. By providing the necessary support and resources, the programme aims to foster innovation, strengthen business foundations, and ultimately drive sustainable growth for these startups.
